Les populations locales vivent dans quelques petits villages et certaines essaient encore de vivre à l'ancienne avec des chiens du Groenland, des phoques et des baleines.
Scoresby Sound est un vaste système de fjords situé sur la côte est du Groenland. Le corps principal peut mesurer 110 km de long, mais tous ses affluents mesurent jusqu'à 400 km de long, ce qui en fait l'un des fjords les plus grands (et les plus froids) du monde.
